The making of 1:100

Did you know that 1 bee visits 100 flowers in one trip?

This fact was the inspiration behind this piece called 1:100. Using a 10inch by 10inch framed canvas I hand painted 100 unique flowers using water colour. In the midst of it I hand molded a air dry clay bee and placed it near centre. This painting is a visual representation of this fact and the beauty that comes with it.

While creating this piece I was mindful that the bee is significantly smaller than each flower. Mimicking an aspect of real life. Each flower is a recreation with my artistic twist. So they do represent real life flowers but from how I see them.

The 1 in 1:100 represents the Bee and the 100 in 1:100 represented the 100 flowers painted.

The painting 1:100 took an approximate of 10hours to complete

Each flower was drawn using a pencil and then painted on with watercolour. To finish the painting a coat of cold pressed wax was placed to ensure that painting became waterproof. The bee was then placed after.
